Land of the Rising Matsuzaka (Japan)

It looks like the MLB, Japan, and even the Red Sox for that matter will be getting their way. Daisuke Matsuzaka will be the Red Sox opening day starter this year with Josh Beckett’s back being not good enough for the 18 hours he’d be spending on a plane to Japan. This also means Jon Lester will get a start overseas, with Tim Wakefield and Clay Buchholtz starting the two exhibition games.
I, for one, am glad to see Daisuke get back to Tokyo. Hopefully it’ll give him a confidence boost, assuming he performs well. There should also be plenty of pomp and circumstance, as he will be following up his world series win with this start back in his home land.
It also gives you a good reason to draft him on your fantasy team. You could easily have 3 wins from this guy before some pitchers even throw their first inning!
