There’s a Lot to Like About Lowell
I had it all ready to go. An article, with several key points, about how Mike Lowell is a riskier play than we all think and that when the Yankees give him the 4th year, we can laugh and laugh, becuase he’ll be the next Johnny Damon that can’t carry his weight in New York.
But now I can scrap it! After all, it was pretty hard to convince myself, let alone my millions of readers (OK, dozens…) that Mike Lowell in a uniform of a team that didn’t rhyme with Bed Sox wasn’t so bad. The World Series MVP and former gold glover being on your team is probably a good thing anyway. And for 3 years, instead of 4, is even better.
If JD Drew gets his act together, we’ll see Lowell most likely hitting 6th, but until that happens, you are going to see him at bat right behind Manny Ramirez next year, where he belongs. I don’t care about righty-lefty and all that. I want my best hitters to get the most at bats, and that means Lowell hits in front of JD Drew.
Welcome back Mike, and as many radio listeners already know, “Oh, Oh, there’s a lot to like about Lowell”
