Full Moon Victory!

That was the greatest baseball game I have ever seen.
By far. Better than any walk offs during the regular season. Better than beating the Yankees in the ALCS (after all, that wasn’t the WORLD SERIES!). How can you argue about one of the best pitched games in baseball history? My previous “best game I’ve ever been to” was game 3 of the 2003 ALDS. You may recall the 11th inning Trot Nixon walk off home run, the interference call for our other run, and Varitek blocking the plate on Eric Byrnes. That was a great game, also masterfully played, but hey, I’ll say it again, this was the World Series and so much better!
The only problem I had was with the fans. Yes, people were excited, and yes, of course people cheered when the big hits came and when the runs scored, but overall, the crowd was pretty lame. I think a lot of this has to do with the high ticket prices everyone is paying. The hard core fans just aren’t able to go, and I’m betting that the bars around the stadium were probably a lot louder.
I’m not an overly loud person, and I’m not one to stand up too much during a game, but when Okajima has 2 strikes on a guy and is about to end an inning, you stand up and cheer. It shouldn’t take some (drunk?) guy standing up and yelling “Get louder, this is the World Series” to get you excited. The game itself should be enough. But hey, you paid $1,500 for that ticket, and you’re entitled to sit quietly right?
Sox fans, you are going to be put to shame once we are in Colorado - I guarantee you they will be at least as loud, if not more, than the fans were in Cleveland. Home field advantage is real, but only if the fans live up to their end of the bargain.
