The Excitement of Attending a World Series Game
![]()
Yes, I am going to the game tonight. And I am very excited! As I was on vacation last week, I could not use my ALCS game 2 tickets. So I traded them to a friend for one of his World Series tickets. This was a smart move by me. I got the call last night, that, yes, I am going to game 2.
I haven’t been this excited to go to a game since… well, since ever really. I have never been to a World Series game, or any championship game for that matter. I have been to a couple Pats playoff games, but never a World Series. I have seen the Celtics win plenty of playoff games, but never saw them in the Finals (I was 5 in 1986, their last appearance). I have been to plenty of Sox playoff games, but never one where the World Series logo was painted on the field.
After last night, this may be the last game at Fenway also. Sorry scalpers, looks like you won’t be getting $10,000 per ticket for game 7 after all (hopefully)! I’m not quite ready to award the Sox their rings and assume a sweep yet, but honestly, who on this Rockies staff can get the Red Sox out? They are firing on all cylinders. The Rocky Mountain News has called last night’s game a Boston Massacre (I thought that was the 19-8 Yankee game?). Their hopes of splitting the home series and going back to Denver with confidence are riding on the arm of a rookie named Ubaldo (OOOh-Bald-Oh) who was born in 1984, and was just 2 years old when Curt Schilling was drafted by these very same Red Sox.
Yes, its a full moon, so that may mean I go a little extra crazy once I am in there, but I don’t think that Baldy is going to be able to beat Mr. Bloody Sock himself.
Even though both pitchers wear #38, they are hardly the same guy. Jiminez has won 4 games as a professional pitcher, all in the regular season (he was not the pitcher of record in any of his post season starts). Schilling has more post season wins than Jiminez has total wins!
Clearly the Sox are the favorites, though as I keep saying, matchups don’t matter in the World Series. We pounded Cleveland in the first game too and that went all the way to game 7. Don’t count the Rockies out yet - they won’t be as flat tonight, but then again, I wouldn’t bet on them either.
