Sox Appeal - More Like Sucks Appeal

Last night, the Red Sox pulled off a dramatic comeback victory with the help of solid bullpen work (1 run in 4 IP) to give Javier Lopez his second win of the season. Papelbon pitched a perfect ninth, including 2 strikeouts, to seal the deal. Right as the last pitch was thrown, I was instantly looking forward to seeing Tina Cervasio (who doesn’t look forward to this, right?) interview Dustin Pedroia or Kevin Youkilis for getting key hits.
But as you know, this didn’t happen. For a moment, I thought the dog changed the channel to the Lifetime Network, but alas, that was still Curt Schilling standing in front of me. No, this was NESN all right, and it appears they have stooped to a new low. No post game interview, no post game show or analysis, not even a series of highlights from the game. I want to see Pedroia’s 2 base steal again! But no, as soon as the last pitch is thrown, before “Tessie” can even start playing in Fenway, you subject myself and the rest of Red Sox Nation to some queer dating show. Who actually enjoyed this?
Maybe if the show were funny, or interesting somehow, this could work. I know you want the audience to watch, but honestly, this show sucked. The people on it were annoying - Jesus Christ, a figure skater who won’t drink beer and we think he’s going to meet a girl at a Red Sox game? I don’t know what happened after that, I just couldn’t stand the show.
If you really want it to be appealing, send Tina Cervasio out there and let us compete for a date with her. That is something I would be more interested in! I don’t think I am alone in this one either. Either that, or we can get the loudest, most obnoxious drunks out of the bleachers and give them three dates, and play Guess Which One is Really a Man. Again, that would be interesting programming I’m willing to watch, not some figure skater stumble over his words with some skank from Lynn.
In the end, there will be a postgame show after the rest of the games, and I will be able to completely ignore this show from now on, but last night, it was just plain annoying. Get it together NESN, no real baseball fans want to see people talking to each other instead of watching the game from nice seats like that.
