Manny Ramirez is NOT an All Star
Shame on the Red Sox for pushing their PR monster onward. An email went out today and Manny’s picture is plastered all over the web site pushing for fans to log in and vote for him in hopes to unseat the thus-far MVP Magglio Ordonez.

Granted, the Red Sox also made the push for Kevin Youkilis, who is much more deserving than Manny as well. But anyone who thinks Manny Ramirez is an All-Star just doesn’t follow baseball. His stats are:
AVG .295 | HR 11 | RBI 42 | OBP .392 | SLG .485
Good, but not great, and definitely not 3rd best amongst outfielders. Plus, even if Manny gets picked for the game, he probably won’t go. Do the Red Sox really just want to pay him more bonus money? The last time Manny played in an All Star game was in 2004 (he was picked every year but didn’t go the last 2) when he hit a home run.
So save your All Star voting attention span for now and don’t waste it on an undeserving outfielder who doesn’t even want to go. I love Manny, but he just isn’t quite at that level this year. Instead, wait for the final roster spot vote, becuase that may end up being the only way Kevin Youkilis, who is having a much better year, gets in.

I had the same thoughts but it’s nice to know that I wasn’t alone. Why would the front office people make a push to pay a player bonus money?? Sends some to me, money bags. or beter yet, get some non-stoned people to work the stat bar during the NESN games so they can keep up. They were really bad on Monday night, I thing they got a hold of that BC Bud.
