Youkilis to Go on All Star Ballot

Kevin Youkilis will most likely appear on the All Star ballot that is distributed to players, according to ESPN.

Red Sox hope players can help Youkilis make All-Star team

David Ortiz has doubled up Justin Morneau in All-Star fan voting, which means he’ll be starting the game. After the starters are selected, the players vote on pitchers and fielding back-up players.

With Ortiz off the ballot, Youkilis has a chance to be elected by the players, though in this case, he’d still have to beat out Justin Morneau, Jason Giambi, Sean Casey and Travis Hafner. Morneau will probably give him the most trouble, but statistically speaking, Youk does have better overall numbers so far.

If that method of getting him selected fails, he always has the managers who may select him, or can fall back on the 32nd player internet voting, which is almost always a Red Sox player anyway.

In the end, I expect to see Kevin Youkilis in San Francisco on July 10.

Stumble it!
