Red Sox Nation

I was not an official member of Red Sox Nation. Not until today, that is. In order to listen to the radio online, you have to have the MLB Audio package. Of course, the MLB won’t let you listen to radio, a free medium, without making you pay whenever they can. But that is neither here nor there. The MLB charges $14.95 for this, though you get free Sports Illustrated. But anyway, if you don’t want it or already have it, you might as well join RSN instead. Red Sox Nation charges $14.95 as well, so you might as well join.
At least, this is how I justify it. I suppose I spend thousands on the team between tickets, apparel and everything else, but somehow that extra $15 just wasn’t doable. Anyway, I have officially joined. See my card here.

You do get other stuff with Red Sox Nation, for example:
- A Membership Card. Great if you are 5.
- Gameday audio. An excuse for the Red Sox to make a commission on something I want anyway.
- 10% Off in the Red Sox Store. This is actually a lot of money since everything costs so much.
- Our own entrance. To the bleachers in center field.
I’m just not seeing how its worth it otherwise. I suppose there is a certain sense of pride in being part of the “Nation,” but doesn’t cheering for the Sox make us a part of that? It’s not about having the membership card.
Oh well, nothing I can do now, they have my name, email address and phone number. I suppose you can join the Nation for $15, but if you really are a Red Sox Super Fan, you get all your content for free right here.
