Now Closing - Papelbon Again. And Its Official!

Courtesy of ESPN.com, it’s official. Paps is back!

The Boston Red Sox didn’t have to search long for Mike Timlin’s replacement as closer.

Two days after announcing that the 41-year-old Timlin will start the season on the disabled list, multiple team sources told ESPN’s Erin Andrews that the Red Sox have decided Jonathan Papelbon has regained the closer’s job.

This is awesome news. #1 - we have a closer, and a damn good one at that! Gaping hole no more! #2 - this means his shoulder is healthy too! Even better, as we don’t want Roger Clemens part 2 going down with some sort of career threatening injury.

This also leaves the 5th starter slot open, at least temporarily, though we all know there are several great options for the Sox including the now-not-closing Julian Tavarez.

Problem solved - we’ll have to find something else to talk about next week now.

Stumble it!
