Viva El Guapo!
According to Rotoworld:
Rich Garces, who is hoping to make it back to the majors after a four-year absence, has signed to play with the Nashua Pride of the Can-Am League.
The 35-year-old Garces, who previously attempted a comeback with Boston in 2005, is coming off another successful winter ball campaign in Venezuela. He probably doesn’t have enough left to retire major league hitters, but it’d be nice to see him get an opportunity at some point.
Holy awesome news Batman! Now that he has set the world record for eating Tacos in Venezuela, he is apparently thinking baseball again. Games he pitches are, on average, 3.7 minutes longer due to his large size and slowness, but hey, I’d love to pull out the El Guapo shirt again! What are the odds on him becoming the closer this year? 8,762/1? 903,543/1?
