No Special Treatment for a Rookie
Matsuzaka may be praised as the greatest thing since sliced bread in Japan, but on the Red Sox he is still a rookie pitcher. En route to their first throwing sessions, Jason Varitek employed the baseball tradition of making his rookie pitcher carry his bag on to the field. Of course, it was all in good fun with smiles along the way, but its good to see he’s not getting any free passes on the field.
Word is he’ll make his competitive pitching debut against BC next week - can’t wait to see how he looks!

I’m excited to see Dice K and Varitek work together along with the rest of the Boston Red Sox. As everyone knows we look excellent on paper and I would expect nothing less than the Al East title. Let’s hope we keep healthy and find a comfortable, working solution for the pen. I’ll be staying up late in Italy to watch my Sox. GO SOX!
