2008 Opening Day Starter: Curt Schilling!

You have to have heard by now - Curt Schilling will NOT retire after this upcoming 2007 season. He announced it this morning on Dennis and Calalhan on WEEI.
He does not have a contract in place, as he was planning on retiring, however he hopes to stay with Boston. Though, if he cannot come to terms on a contract in the near-term, he will begin shopping himself to other teams. The good news is he said specifically he will NOT be going to the Yankees (Thank God). He also stated he will not be hiring Scott Boras (Thank God on Theo’s behalf)

I for one am very happy to hear this. Schilling is, as we all know, the world series hero of ‘04, at the expense of the ‘05 season. But he was back last year. I watched his last start (from the Patriots box even) and he looked great against Tampa Bay. His second half stats may not have been as good as his first, but he certainly didn’t run out of gas. He’s in great shape and should rate right up there with Johnson, Clemens, Maddux and all the other great 40+ pitchers who are sticking around these days.

I knew that Schilling jersey was a good investment back in ‘03!

Stumble it!
